Network Associates announces India operations

Santa Clara-based Network Associates will soon enter the Indian market. Vishwajeet Deshmukh, Country Manager, said that they had already received an approval from the Reserve Bank of India to set up operations in India.

NA started their operations with the establishment of an authorized support center in Mumbai. The center will continue to take care of all sales support for their customers and partners.

NA plans to invest around $ 1 million by the end of this year in resources and infrastructure to fulfill the needs of the Indian software security market. NA sees India as a market with potential and plans to open offices in Delhi and Bangalore. Three years down the line, it will also set up a software development center in India.

In India , NA has a distribution tie-up with Tech Pacific, Ingram Micro and Texport Technologies. "These tie-ups are part of the company's marketing and distribution strategy for the SAARC region," explained

Deshmukh.

The company also launched 'Active Virus Defense' with ePO 2.0 products, targeted at SMEs and large enterprise segments. Deshmukh said that the product provides comprehensive policy management, detailed graphical reporting and software deployment in a scaleable and automated form, allowing corporate administrators rapid access over the corporate network. It scales to 100,000 users and it forces updates during outbreaks.
