Nidhi Sethi: Rise n Shine

 

 

Currently PAM Retail at Microsoft, Nidhi Sethi dazzles in all her roles and is heading in just the right direction in her professional endeavors

 

 

 

"There is no quick fix formula to achieve success in the corporate world. It's a mix of hard work, passion and strong faith in me to get what I set eyes on. One has to be courageous and take chances. Everyone has a different level of risk, " says Nidhi with a wide grin. Aptly so, as she has always followed this mantra.

Educational Background

Having graduated in business, Nidhi completed her post-graduation in HR.

The Family Background

A family oriented individual, Nidhi says that she has a very close knit family. For her, family is very important and since she stays away from them, she keeps in touch through phone on a daily basis. Also, she is extremely close to her brother and sister who, she says, are a reflection of her.

Working in male-dominated field of IT

Fortunately in Microsoft, it's more or less equal gender ratio. In the field, it's just dealing with people, men/women both. It does not make a difference both can be equally challenging and simple.

Does a glass ceiling exist?

There's competition and it's a stiff one, which unfortunately sometimes leads to unreasonable insecurities. Does that deter women from competing or rising? The answer is "no way". Indeed from what I know from my interactions on the subject, that inertly becomes our motivation amongst other more important reasons to continue to push harder for better results and higher gratification.

 

Advice to working women

'The only way to learn something is by doing it' is what keeps Nidhi motivated and this this is what she advises others too. She says that women are out in the world proving their mettle beyond household chores. "Survival in the corporate world is not to beat completion alone, it is a platform for us to excel in things we did not know we could even do and end up surprising ourselves on how well we can do them," says Nidhi. Go out and take chances.. don't be afraid of failures. Take risks and have a backup plan, you will rise and shine, she adds.

 

 

Hobbies

Apart from excelling in her work, Nidhi likes to keep a healthy work-life balance. She loves to cook in her leisure. She is a great hostess who loves playing the host and having dear ones over to her place for sumptuous delights. Besides that she enjoys photography. She says, "There is so much one can do with the lenses - it's amazing! I am a nature freak so as and when I can escape from the concrete jungle, I go traveling."

Future plans

Nidhi wants to take forward the work she is doing currently and would like to travel more, explore and learn more.
