Pune Mayor Deepti Chaudhary kicked off the World Computer Literacy Day 2002
Campaign with the launch of CDs of the IT literacy program–Swift Jyoti and
Marathi software and course-books at an event held by NIIT in Pune.
NIIT would provide basic computer training to about 20,000 citizens in
Maharashtra, in Marathi, on the World Computer Literacy Day, which was observed
on December 2, 2002.
Under this program, NIIT would provide free computer literacy programs to 500
principals, teachers and students of government schools across the state of
Maharashtra in December 2002.
Swift Jyoti, a two week, 12-hour plus program is available in four languages–Hindi,
Marathi, Tamil and Gujarati, apart from English for a price of Rs 749. NIIT has
enlisted the participation of three Indian brands  AirTel, Cyber Media and Web
Dunia for this.
