Teamwork and efforts are the keys to Tavant success

Sarvesh Mahesh, CEO of Tavant Technologies is responsible for providing the vision and guiding the company’s strategy. Before joining Tavant, Mahesh was director, Merchant Services at Amazon.com, where he played a key role in building services that helped merchants sell on the Amazon platform. He has served as vice president of Customer Solutions at Junglee where he was responsible for operations, deployment, customer service, and data acquisition for the Junglee Shopping Network as well as the Junglee Jobs Network. Under his leadership, Junglee deployed co-branded sites with Yahoo, CNET, Zdnet, Go2Net, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and several other leading sites. He has also served as a practice director at Sybase Professional Services where he managed their West Coast practice.

Initial Days

Mahesh began his career with TCS, after graduating from IIT Roorkee. TCS was then a 600 people company and he described his first stipend which was Rs 640 a month.

Mahesh says during those days he learned a lot about how IT industry works observing leaders such as F. C. Kohli and S.Ramadorai who often referred as the fathers of the Indian software industry. He always had a dream to do something of his own and was passionate about his dream. After working in Amazon and Junglee and watching people like Jeff Bezos, Rakesh Mathur and Ram Shriram, and their inspirational work, the dream to become an entrepreneur just grew stronger by the day.

Mahesh holds a Bachelor’s in Electronics and Communication Engineering from IIT Roorkee. Mahesh currently lives in California with his wife Seema and two sons Arjun and Ankur. Mahesh has a hobby of playing squash regularly which keeps him fit and healthy.

Start-up

In the year 2000, Mahesh got together with like-minded people - Manish Arya, who is the current CTO of Tavant Technologies, Nita Goyal, Ashish Gupta and AseemMital. Though they all came from diverse backgrounds, but had this single vision of doing something meaningful in the IT space. The company was incorporated in the state of Washington, USA.

To take advantage of the tremendous talent pool in India, Mahesh with all other talented people opened their dedicated software development centre in India within a year.

Today, Tavant Technologies is a software services and solutions company with deep specialization in the industries served and recognized globally for its innovative solutions. “Our customer focus has enabled us to build long-standing, mutually successful customer partnerships. Professional Achievements

Mahesh has a strong belief that challenges are the opportunities. The global economic crisis of 2007/2008 was a big challenge and an achievement. Mahesh explained, “Because of the way we were structured that time, we almost lost 87% of our business overnight. We didn’t see it coming, and we were not even prepared. However, we responded to the situation very well. We all stuck together, could not let anyone go and started to diversify. Working together as a team, we acquired a record number of clients. I am proud of how the team bounced back in that tough situation. Team work and continuous efforts are the keys to open the new doors of success.”

‘Never give up’ is the right Success Mantra

Mahesh has a simple success mantra - ‘Never give up’. This mantra is not only true for businesses but also true for life and relationships. He gives his 100% in every mode of life whether its professional or personal.

“It is easy to throw up your hands, but far more difficult to carry on. This requires tremendous faith in one’s self, in one’s dream/vision and all this needs to be backed by perseverance” adds Mahesh.

He strongly believes that what you do when you are down has a far greater impact on your life than what you do when you are up in life.

Keep learning

“I would say that the moment you refer to yourself as an entrepreneur; you have already crossed half of your journey. The difficult part is to take the plunge – moving away from the known and the familiar into the risky land of entrepreneurship,” Mahesh enthusiastically said.

Mahesh also said that next half of the journey lies in perseverance and determination. It is important to continue to believe in one’s vision and keep going no matter how challenging the road ahead appears.
