New Delhi: With the objective to enhance its presence in the Indian market, NU, a Taiwan-based company, has introduced a wide range of products that include external devices and IT lifestyle products in India. The IT products and accessories would be distributed by Delhi-based Shiba Comp.
NU has launched waterproof MP3 players, Blu-ray combo drives, docking stations for netbooks, external hard drives, digital photo frames, DVD players, sunglass MP3 players, flash drives, external slim DVD burners and LCD monitors.
“In India we have an alliance with Shiba Comp for nationwide distribution. Shiba has been distributing our products for the last several years. Till now, we were not focusing much on the Indian market but this year onwards we want to establish a strong market base. Therefore, we have launched products that are designed keeping in mind the younger generation. In India, people have buying capacity,” said Victor Yeh, Associate VP-Project Sales Division, NU, on his visit to India during the product launch.
NU is planning to generate $2 million per annum from the Indian market. The company is targeting to stand among top two players for external hard drive market and for the lifestyle products, it is aiming to develop gradually and will pick up pace within a year.
Shiba Comp will supply the products to electronic stores of shopping malls including E-Zone and Chroma.
The products are priced from middle range to higher range. NK Jain, Director, Shiba Comp informed, “Our main concern is that channel partners who will sell NU products should enjoy a good margin that would be around 10-15 percent, hence pricing will be fixed accordingly.”
“Since the products cater to a particular market segment, we will first try to enhance its visibility so that it attracts the customers with its stylish features. Once, the sale and inquiries start coming we will distribute to other partners,” said Jain.
Shiba Comp has eight branches across the country. In the first phase, Shiba would make the products available at retail stores and once the visibility gains ground, the distribution of the products through its channel network would increase.
