Buoyed by the market response from the Indian region, O2 Limited is looking forward to having its India presence within three months. It is looking at Mumbai and New Delhi as key locations to start its operations initially.
"At present, we are working closely with our exclusive distributor, Goldkist International, for this region, who has done a wonderful fob in terms of establishing our product in this region. But as the mobile user base is growing at a tremendous pace in India, there is a big market opportunity for us. In order to realize this market opportunity to the fullest, we are looking at Mumbai and New Delhi as key locations for us to have our own people very soon," informed Chia Eng Keat, VP-Sales, Asia Pacific, O2.
As the company plans to strengthen its Indian operations, it is expecting that future growth for the company would be coming from the upgrade segment. "Today a lot of people keep going in for upgrades at regular intervals. Future growth would be coming from this segment as our products are quite high on the kind of features that people aspire for," he added.
Targeting the telecom segment — O2 is already engaged in talks with telecom operators like Hutch to help the operator in retaining its customer base in an efficient way. "Customer retention service is one area where we have a big focus. We also work with solution providers and system integrators in this regard, where we help SIs develop applications and solutions aimed at the growing telecom segment," Chia said.
