Microsoft Corporation India announced that out of a total number of 60
million licenses sold worldwide, more than 12 million Microsoft Office XP
licenses have been purchased in the Asia-Pacific region since the product was
launched in May 2001.
This figure represents a threefold increase in Office XP licenses compared
with the number of Office 2000 licenses sold in the APac region during a
comparable time frame. In India, there has been a significant momentum
specifically in the enterprise and the government sectors.
Sanjiv Mathur, Group Marketing Head, Microsoft India says, "The last
year has seen a good response for the product from the Indian market. This has
been driven by the large scale adoption by the enterprise audiences, and
particularly the government sector." According to Sanjiv, the coming year
looks even better as customers will see Office XP in a new avatar as a
platform for a rich desktop solutions.
