Oracle India has released Database 10g Release 2, the latest update to its database. The product will aid in enhanced availability, manageability and performance and security features to help customers and partners achieve high levels of efficiency from their IT investments.
With this, new sorting techniques will improve the performance of all operations doing sorting, such as queries and index creation, and may eliminate the need for costly pre-load sort operations.
The product will also feature an open Application Program Interface (API) for Oracle´s clusterwareÂCluster Ready ServicesÂthat will enable higher application availability. New backup and recovery capabilities in Release 2 will augment the existing backup-to-disk operations by also automating backup-to-tape, reducing the need for complex backup environments. New automated fail over capabilities will also improve a site´s ability to come back online quickly after a disaster, even in unattended environments. It will build on manageability features by Automatic Storage Management that simplifies the optimal configuration and management of storage for the database, reducing administrators´ workload. Oracle India launched Application Server 10g Release 2.
It incorporates new Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Enterprise Grid Computing features along with major enhancements to the suite´s business integration, business intelligence, identity management, enterprise portal, mobile, RFID and J2EE components.
