To further the growth of channel business, IT Association of Orissa (ITAO), has decided to form a Business Development Cell (BDC), under the leadership of its President, Manoj Lalani. This cell will address business and other common problems of members. Abhisek Poddar and Sanjeev Nayak have been appointed as Chairman and spokesperson, respectively, of this newly formed committee.

The association will focus on the problem that local dealers face following the State government's decision to place all its orders at National Informatics Center. These will then be executed from its central office in Delhi. This has destabilized the local SIs and solution providers because all state government business has been diverted to NICSI. The partners are required only to provide after-sales support to these supplies. Though this issue has been taken up with State IT Minister and IT Secretary, Asit Tripathy, there has been no progress. The association will pursue this issue to arrive at an outcome which will be conducive to the channel.

Secondly, in order keep business practices ethical, the association will now shortlist major defaulters and take action against them. This matter was discussed with leading national distributors, Computer Association of Eastern India (COMPASS) and National Association of Channels of Information Technology

(NACIT).

This decision was taken in wake of a recent incident when a member complained about certain unethical practices by a leading vendor. ITAO has decided that in case this problem is not resolved, the vendor may face state boycott from partners.
