Cyber Threats

We have earlier highlighted cases of cybercrimes which security solutions can't nullify. This is because in these cases the criminals don't use any malware, data breaching tools or password hacking etc. They use simple human psychology to make the victim transfer the money with full authority. Hence, they can't be caught under the cybercrimes cell laws and the banks also can't reverse the payment.

We have come across some complaints about cybercrimes from the partners who have brought to light that they were duped in selling their goods to unknown person who did not pay for the goods.

Sagar Infocom proprietors have reported that a buyer called them to buy graphic card worth Rs. 80000 by giving address of Dr. S K Jain SAL Hospital  and asked them to deliver at reception and get amount from there. So, the seller went ahead with this information and got the package ready. But when their representative reached in the basement of building, there he met one person. He introduced himself as a team member of S K Jain and said that he was sent to receive the parcel of graphics Card Inno3d Rtx3070 Ichill X3 Lhr 8gb Ddr6 with Serial number - 32-786-210900358. Hhe took the package saying he was coming within 5 min with amount of payment, but he never came back. Sagar Infocom tried to contact the phone number from which they had received order, but that number was found to be a wrong number.

Sagar Infocom has requested to all that if any one who comes to sell this product, they should contact Sagar Infocom immediately.  All should be aware of this kind of phone call because this is a lesson for everyone to cross check the company address and refrain from trusting un-indetified persons from another company without proper id card.
Sagar's contact number - 9712435089 /  9974228108.
Another partner said that this had happened in Tamilnadu several times 4 or 5 years ago and the culprits were caught with the help of Tamil Nadu police.
It was reported that same incident happened in Jalandhar , Punjab. They caught the culprit and recovered the goods.

Another partner said that many times clients ask for delivery at home and receive the goods and say they will check and pay and then when they go to collect they let loose the dogs on them.
In the light of such events, it is important to take the following precautions -

  • Always ask for advance payment.
  • Never hand over any product to an unidentified person.
  • The buyer should be asked to first make the payment and then give a verified office or residential address where the goods can be delivered.
  • Care should be taken to not trust any unknown person.

Remember that the police may not be able to catch the culprits later. Hence, precautions must be taken in advance.
