The highlight at the panel discussion on "The Business of Storage and Security Solutions" organized by DQ Channels India in collaboration with Computer Associates, was that partners showed a keen interest to offer cost-effective solutions to their customers. Girish Baliga, VP-Storage Solutions, Apara Infotech, who was on the panel, noted that SMEs were not very focussed on on storage and security right now. But he predicted that this segment will look for these solutions in the next couple of years, with growing realization of the need to protect and manage their data. "By 2004-05, SME’s will look at data recovery seriously, " says he.Â
"End-users work on reduced operational costs and data is key to any organization. It is very important for solution providers to educate buyers about storage benefits," points out another panelist Shiv Deviah, Manager-Storage Solutions, Network Solutions. He suggested that partners should have a holistic approach towards storage and security solutions.
Arun Rao, National Manager-Storage, CA, says that storage involves a lot of applications. Partners specializing in offering solutions in this business should customize offerings after understanding the requirement of end-users. "Customized storage solutions will find more and more acceptance," says he.Â
Sylvester Lobo, Executive Editor, DQCI, who moderated the discussion concluded by saying that some passion and an ability to offer flexible, cost-effective solutions would make partners successful in the business of storage and security.
