New Update

After US and Europe, Patni Computer Systems is now looking at expanding its business in the APac market. The company is expecting 60 to 70% growth from this region. NK Patni, CEO, Patni, says, "We have already crossed Rs 1,000 crore in this quarter and are open for acquisitions and alliances. Currently, APAC doesn't contribute much to our revenue, and so, we have started to focus on this area."

The APAC region contributes only 6% of the overall revenue of the company. Since most of the work done in this region is in the embedded systems, the company is also looking for acquisition in this segment.

Another focus area for the company is its BPO operations. The outsourcing would be done on verticals rather than the usual BPO model that companies follow. Since it has gained expertise in insurance and finance, Patni's BPO operations would compliment these verticals only. "The operating expenses and risks in this model are less as compared to the traditional BPO model," adds Patni. Currently, the company has two BPO centers in India, one in Noida and another in
Pune.

The company has formed six software business units (SBUs) to leverage capabilities across industry verticals leading to focus, flexibility, accountability and enhanced knowledge management. The six SBUs are 'Enterprise Application Solutions',
'e-business Solutions', 'Embedded Technology Solutions', 'Engineering Services Division', 'Enterprise Systems Management' and 'Business Process Outsourcing'."
