PCS Industries is planning to open 25 Intel P4-branded retail outlets
throughout the country. Already seven outlets have started functioning
nationally. These outlets are in addition to PCS' plans to open 100 exclusive
retail outlets under its own brand name. Already the company has opened 50 PCS
retail outlets in the country. The 50th retail outlet, which just opened in
Bareilly, was inaugurated by Minister for State Santosh Gangawar.
What sets these retail outlets apart is that they will sell only P4-based
machines as well as Intel accessories like web cameras. Says Arun Narayan,
Marketing Manager, PCS, "We will help the retailer to set up his shop and
do his entire interior, complete with glowsigns and POP material according to
the design standards that we have."
In addition to this, PCS will help increase the traffic into these stores by
advertising for them in local newspapers and also putting information about
these outlets on its web sites. Contrary to what most people say, I think there
is great scope for retailing in India, because customers still want to touch and
feel the product,” Arun says. Says Ashutosh Khawatkar of Mumbai-based WebWorld,
which is the first PCS-P4 retail outlet in the city. “There has been an
encouraging response for the P4 machines and PCS has been giving me good backup.
Going by this response, I am sure the concept of specialized branded retail
outlets will work out well in the country.”
