The Multimedia Display Division  Monitors (MMD) of Philips India, a
subsidiary of Netherlands-based Royal Philips Electronics, has appointed
Redington India as its third distributor. The disty will distribute Philips
monitors throughout India, focusing on both the LCD and CRT Monitors. Priya and
Compuage Infocom are its other distributors.
"Following our tie up with Redington, we have planned to increase our
distribution depth and focus on B and C- class cities. The business is growing
faster in these cities and our underlying strategy is to reach out to channels
in these cities," said Ankan Biswas, GM- MMD, Philips India.
Commenting on the new partnership, Jitendra Kulkarni, CEO, Redington India
said, "Philips is a strong consumer brand and we expect it to grow faster
than the market in the next few years. We will be able to leverage on our
existing channels and provide extensive reach for Philips. We will also be able
to offer a wider choice of products to our partners."

Atul Mehta, CMD, Compuage Infocom said that the fringe benefits of increased
visibility and demand would be for the entire Philips family of Super Star
Partners´ (SSP), resellers and distys. Similarly, Aditya Bhuwania, Director,
Priya, said, "Now with the Philips mantra of ´Power of 3´ (Philips,
distributors and SSPs), surely Philips would be able to achieve its 2005 target
of growing three times over last year."
According to the latest IDC report, Philips monitors have increased its
branded market share from less than 5% in 2003 to 8% in Q4 of 2004.
