Plextor to launch 48X CDRW for professionals

Zeta Technologies will launch Plextor’s 48X CDRW drives in India in August.

The drives will be targeted at professional users, comprising production houses,

advertising agencies and audio visual companies. Says Tejas Sheth, Director,

Zeta Technologies, "Our target customer base is any company that burns more

than 25 CDs a day."

Tejas adds that he does not expect sales to pick up for the 48X drives

immediately. "This is because the media for 48X drives are not available

easily in the market. Currently only the media for 24X and 30X are available. So

it does not make sense for a customer to go for a 48X drive without having a

high-performance media," he explains.

The

48X drives are expected to be sold at Rs 12,990. Currently Zeta is pushing

Plextor’s 40X drives in the market, which are priced at Rs 9,990.
