Polycom Inc has appointed Ingram Micro to promote voice and entry-level video conferencing products. Ingram Micro will focus on providing Polycom solutions to tier-2 channel partners. The association will help Polycom target a larger base of customers. The vendor has trebled its revenues from sales of video conferencing systems in the Indian market, since 2003. The overall video conferencing solutions industry has registered a 35% growth in 2004 in India.
Polycom APAC MD, Jean Francois Poulain said, "We see this as an opportunity for Polycom to grow and expand in the emerging markets. Ingram Micro has a good reach in the country and its expertise in sales, marketing and logistics will surely help us in tapping new segments".
Commenting on the tie-up, Ingram Micro India MD, Jaishankar Krishnan said, "We look forward to a mutually rewarding relationship." Speaking on the video conferencing market, Polycom Country Manager, Yugal Sharma added, "The concept of video conferencing has crossed the initial threshold and India will now see the beginning of a new revolution where the use is not restricted to multinationals and large enterprises only. Sectors like telemedicine, education, judiciary, and government are realizing its potential and are already redefining the way people share information. The industry is clearly on a high growth chart."
