Mumbai-based Asia Powercom has decided to beef up its current product range
of power products with the introduction of inverters. The company will roll out
two inverter models by the end of JAS quarter along with three UPS. It currently
has nine models of UPS under its belt, exclusively for the SOHO segment.
"Once we have the additional products, we will target the home and SME
segment as well," said Tejas Sheth, Director, Asia Powercom.
The company, which was earlier into distribution under the name Zeta
Technologies, has decided to stick to regional distribution (RD) for Powercom
products. It currently has 115 RDs nationally and is working to take the number
up to 150 by this year-end. "Working with RDs is relatively better than
with national distributors as we are directly in touch with our customers and
can get feedback from them faster," noted Tejas.

In a bid to motivate RDs to push its products, Powercom is invigorating
partners by taking them out for overseas trips. Recently, it flew down six of
its RDs from Maharashtra to Bangkok for a three-day vacation. It will also step
up its focus on more incentive schemes for its partners on a regional level.
Powercom is currently also adding manpower in its 10 branch offices. These
outlets also function as service centers, where customers can walk in for
post-support issues.
