"The intention of this exercise is to reach out directly to the channel and build a healthy relationship with them," says Deepak Sharma, MD, Powerware. Adds he, "Our focus is to ensure faster liquidation of stock from resellers´ outlets rather than from our warehouse alone."

According to Deepak, the existing channel will largely confine itself to the selling of its 550 VA product that caters to the need of the SOHO segment. Meanwhile the company has also started their channel expansion exercise for the mid-range products.

The mid-range products include 1 kVA to 6 kVA line interactive and online.

The focus for this set of partners will be different. Says Deepak, "The focus here will be to identify partners capable of providing solutions to their end-customers." The company is looking for partners to address verticals apart from IT as well, healthcare for instance.

Powerware is expecting the results of its expansion to start coming in by May. The company has also been working on putting all its internal support processes in place. Apart from the offline support, it offers a web-based support for the customers to directly lodge their complaints.
