Pramod Mahajan, Minister for IT, telecommunication and parliamentary affairs
has been awarded the "IT Man of the Year 2001" award by Dataquest,
India’s leading IT magazine published by Cyber Media (I) Ltd.

Mehta has been posthumously chosen for the Lifetime achievement award for having
spearheaded Indian IT’s global push. Mehta joined Nasscom in 1991 as
Secretary. The journey of India’s foremost champion of the software cause was
cut short by his untimely demise on April 12, 2001.
The awards would be conferred at a function in New Delhi on January 25.
The winners of this year’s DQ awards were selected by a distinguished panel
chaired by Rajendra S Pawar, Chairman and Managing Director, NIIT. The other
panelists included Arun Kumar, President and MD, Hughes Software Systems, Arun K
Thiagarajan, President, HP India, Saurabh Srivastava, Executive Chairman, Xansa,
Satish Naralkar, Chief Information officer, NSE, Pradeep Gupta, Publisher and
MD, Cyber Media and Shyam Malhotra, Editor-in-chief, Cyber publications. (CNS)
