Explains Stanley Rakesh, Director, Prognet Technologies, "Viruses affect the boot or partition sectors of a machine. In MagicBox the data is stored in CDs and therefore these can be used easily for back-up."

MagicBox has four CD-ROM drives and HDDs that take continuous back-up of the data, daily on CDs. Critical data can be recalled from the CD and saved on the HDD. It can also be transferred over secure lines from one office to another.

MagicBox is targeted at corporates with a turnover of over Rs 10 crore. The product is currently being fine-tuned and is expected to be launched by the end of this year. Rakesh hopes to introduce the product at Rs 25,000. The company also has plans to appoint a dedicated distribution network to sell the product in India.
