Rakesh Kapur, GM, Proview, attributes the initial success of product to a

number of factors. Says he, "Apart from the attractive price, the product

is robust and comes with the guarantee of 24/7 support." Priced at Rs

2,900, the product has been designed in consultation with Proview International,

Taiwan..

The product comes with a three-year warranty, while the battery comes with

one-year warranty. Another factor that contributed to the success was that the

back-end incentives being offered to the partners were almost twice of that

prevailing in the market. To ensure channel loyalty the company plans to

continue the same.

In light of the increasing demand for its UPS, the company is now also

looking at expanding its channel base. "We are currently working with a

channel base of 300 partners," said Rakesh. Also on the cards is expansion

of the product line. The company is looking at launching the 1kVA variant of the

UPS by June 2002. "The new product will also offer the customer a blend of

quality at an attractive price," adds Rakesh.

The company has put a support network in place to ensure maximum customer

convenience. It is offering direct support through its 13 regional offices

across the country. And it has also trained 15 of its distributors to address

support issues. "Wherever we are unrepresented, we have posted service

engineers either directly or through our distributors," informed Rakesh.
