Quantum Corp., global specialist in backup, recovery and archive, today
introduced the latest version of its StorNext FX data management software, which
allows broader data sharing and workflow consolidation in Apple Xsan
environments to include applications running on other operating systems such as
Linux, Windows, and Unix. With today's introduction of StorNext FX version 1.4,
Quantum has added client support for SGI IRIX 6.5.29 and Red Hat Enterprise
Linux Advanced Server 4.0, Update 3.

“A key benefit of StorNext FX is its ability to enhance collaboration and
streamline workflow by allowing Xsan environments to support applications that
require non-Mac operating systems, resulting in more efficient customer project
management,” said Paul Zuhorski, director, software products for Quantum. “By
reducing storage complexity and consolidating disk resources, customers who use
StorNext FX find cost savings as well.”

Customers use StorNext FX to streamline production by eliminating
time-consuming network file transfers and offering concurrent access to data
between Apple Xsan and all major Linux, Windows and UNIX platforms. Customers
also benefit from reduced storage complexity and associated costs by eliminating
the need to manage separate storage volumes on individual hosts and enabling
standardization of cross-company business processes. Ideal for data-intensive
industries, StorNext FX is a critical component of company-wide Xsan
installations because it allows non-Apple systems and applications to rapidly
share data within an Apple environment.

In addition to Mac OS X, StorNext FX 1.4 also provides support for Microsoft
Windows, Red Hat and Novell SUSE Linux, SGI IRIX, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, IBM AIX,
and Cray UNICOS/mp. StorNext FX 1.4 is available now through Quantum's worldwide
network of partners.
