In a rapid-fire interview with DQ channels, Lalit Mehta, Co-Founder and CEO of Decimal Technologies, Gurugram, Haryana shared his personal and professional vitae.

Home is in: Fatehabad, Haryana.

School/college:  BE from G.J University, Hisar Haryana. MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.

Company: Decimal Technologies.

Family: Wife and Daughter.

I would like to be reborn as: Lalit Mehta, again.

The most memorable event of my life: The birth of my daughter.

What did you do with your first pay cheque: There was no first paycheck as I joined my father's business after college.

Idol in life: No idols in life

Can't live without: Work.

Favorite Gadget: There is no favorite gadget. But I would say the most used gadget is my iPhone.

Favorite book: Give and Take, by Adam Grant

Work-out regime: My workout regime is moderate, and I work out at least three times a week. It’s a mix of different exercises. Some days, it’s Yoga, some days it’s more of a strengthening and conditioning workout. It’s that one time of the day which I like to spend with myself.

Hobby: I love to travel. I think traveling by bike is something which I enjoy.

Favorite holiday destination: Spain

Favorite food: Thai

I can't stand: Entitlement. I can’t stand it when people feel entitled to something.

Social Media Preference: WhatsApp

The best compliment I ever received: I think somebody once said that I like your genuineness. I think that's what is close to my heart and what I want to be. So that's why I like that.

The car I drive: Toyota Corolla Altis

Motto in life: Give your best in whatever you do.

Advice to budding entrepreneurs: It’s a bit clichéd, but all I have to say is, follow your heart and don’t give up easily. It takes some time. That’s all.

Like to watch on Television: Anything in comedy.

The cause I care for: So, a couple of them. I believe that education is one thing that can bring the change that we want to see. The most effective and sustainable way of bringing change is education. That's the first cause. And next, I believe in change by design. I believe that whether it's poverty, mismanagement, traffic, or pollution, all of that can be changed by design rather than changing by a lot of activity. Changes by design take longer to achieve but they are sustainable in the long run.

One thing I would like to change in myself: I think I've been trying to do too many things; hence I would like to be more disciplined & focused than I am.

5 years down the line I would be: I would be someone who's helping entrepreneurs to build businesses or someone who's just trying to solve real problems. May not be for the commercial benefits, but for solving real business problems.

If not in the IT industry, I would be: I would be in the automotive or agriculture industry.
