With an aim to cement its Indian operations, Japan's
semiconductor-focused company, Renesas Technology is looking forward to increase
its partnerships with solution providers in India. As part of this effort, it
has signed up with five companies including Bangalore-based Avnet Electronics
Marketing.
“India holds a very big opportunity for us as a company
and we want to be there when it comes to having right kind of partners. We have
just partnered ourselves with Avnet. Partnering with solution providers and
system integrators forms a critical part of our business strategy as a company.
Right now, we have five partners in India and are looking at increasing this
number to 25 over a period of time,” informed KV Yashoranjan, Senior Manager,
Renesas Semiconductor Group.
With convergence of devices leading the way for
semiconductor industry, the company is bullish about India. “There is a lot of
activity in the Indian semiconductor market. We believe that this market will
grow at a higher pace than the regional markets. That is why we want to increase
our presence in this region,” he added.
As the company plans to target applications like
automotive, mobile, digital consumers, UPS, power meters and smart cards, it is
looking at regional solution providers to partner efforts on these fronts. “We
are aiming at quadrupling our India sales revenue in the next four years and
becoming the leading Microcontroller (MCU) supplier in India. At present, our
sales revenue stands at around eight million dollars for the Indian region. This
will grow sizably as we expand our operations,” explained, Koichi Nagasawa,
Chairman Emeritus, Renesas technology Corporation.
Established as a JV between Hitachi and Mitsubishi Electric
Corporation, Renesas undertakes development, design, manufacture, sales and
servicing of system LSIs, including microcomputers, logic and analog devices,
discrete devices and memory products, including flash memory and SRAM.
