The service, which is available on the Ridlr app and is powered by Trimax, has also launched a scheme, wherein, starting from 10th December, the first 10,000 travelers shall travel free for a week, receiving credit worth upto Rs. 100. Also, consumers will get the benefit of further savings through wallet partners and rewards. These incentives will further motivate commuters, who have already shown a willingness to move towards mobile payments during the current demonetization drive, to go cashless with their transactions related to BEST. Apart from tickets, consumers can renew and buy daily passes and regular monthly passes, on Ridlr. Ridlr's mobile app can be downloaded from Google Play Store on all android devices.

Ridlr, an intra-city public transport ticketing and commuting app, had earlier launched a pilot with BEST in operating from Mulund Bus Depot from 29th August, 2016 onward. The pilot was then extended to all AC buses and pass renewal. Since, the launch of the pilot BEST saw mobile ticketing users increase 100% weekly and pass users increase 150% weekly. These numbers doubled post the government’s demonetization drive because of high currency denominations required for BEST AC buses and pass renewals. Besides, BEST closely monitored the feedback from commuters and conductors and on receiving positive inputs; it decided to extend the pilot to all its buses and depots.

Commenting on the launch,  Brijraj Vaghani, CEO of Ridlr said “We are very excited to have partnered with BEST, which is the lifeline of Mumbaikars. While travelling through BEST, commuters face multiple challenges like accessibility to the conductor in an overcrowded bus, availability of exact change etc. Ridlr will provide a relief to the commuters by saving time, money and offer a hassle-free journey every time.”

With this initiative, BEST will become the first intra-city transport agency in India to offer complete mobile ticketing and pass renewal facility. Moreover, with Ridlr offering planning features like bus and train timetable, route planning and traffic information coupled with mobile ticketing facility across all NMMT AC buses and metro card recharge facility across Mumbai Metro, this move will ensure commuters can move across Mumbai.
