New Delhi-based Samtech Infonet has forayed into the Human Resource
Management Systems (HRMS) software market in the US with the launch of HR2.
Targeted at small and medium businesses, the company has already implemented the
solution at three client sites.
Samtech is looking at addressing the US market only as the product is very
domain specific. Says Alok Gupta, MD, Samtech Infonet, "We will be
spreading our resources too thin if we expand to other markets now."
Customizing the product to meet the statutory requirements of other markets,
including Europe at a later stage, is not ruled out.
The software uses IBM’s DB2 to ensure that it can be used across various
platforms. "The component based architecture of the product will mean
faster customization," says Alok. The company has also ruled out the option
of tying up with other software development companies to take the product to
other markets.
Samtech has signed up with Old American Inc to distribute the product in the
US. All market development activities will be taken care by the distributor.
"Old American has recruited three people to address the marketing issues
related to the product," adds Alok.Â
Samtech has also stationed three employees in the US to help the distributor
and customers to address the support issues. "They will also be involved in
the pre-sales process," states Alok. With three customers already in its
kitty, the company is looking at generating $ 4 million from the product by
September next year.
