Reaffirming the importance of the Indian development facility in Bangalore, which is SAP Labs' second biggest after its Waldorf facility in Germany, SAP has announced the opening of its first ever NetWeaver center of excellence
(CoE) in India.
The CoE would encourage SAP's ISV partners in India to exchange case studies and support partners in developing prototype and pilot solutions for unique customer requirements.
SAP's Product and Technology Group President and Member of the Executive Board, Shai Agassi said, “World wide, SAP has around 10,000 developers, of which around 18% (1,750 engineers) work at the Bangalore center. We hope to grow the center here by 20%-25%, but not at the expense of our teams elsewhere.” The SAP NetWeaver COE is an initiative started by SAP custom development, which looks at helping customers get more value out of their SAP investment.
Shai commended the SAP's Indian development team that looked at areas like enterprise services architecture, application platform, business intelligence, exchange infrastructure, CRM and collaboration. India ranks among the top eight strategic markets for SAP globally with over 700 customers and 1500 installations. It is also one of the fastest growing markets for the company. To tap the large SMB market in the country, SAP plans to launch its BusinessOne solution late this year.
