Samsung Electro-Mechanics (SEMCO) has cautioned all its channel partners about the existence of fake keyboards in the market and has asked them to refrain from selling the same. At a recent dealer meet held in Mumbai, SEMCO officials gave a brief presentation on how to identify the fakes from the originals. "The awareness campaign is also being conducted in Delhi, Bangalore and Calcutta," says Praveen Mahajan, Asst Manager,

SEMCO.

One of the main difference according to Praveen was that the particular model for which fakes are available is not being manufactured any more. Secondly, the box packing does not match with that of the original. "Most importantly, these fakes are of highly inferior quality," he adds.

SEMCO is the computer components and peripherals subsidiary of Samsung group specializing in the manufacture of FDDs, speakers, mice, keyboards, power supply and LAN cards. During the presentation, SEMCO officials from Singapore also announced the launch of flash memory card drives (FMCD). FMCD is an all-in-one drive that can support all types of flash memory cards.

The company presently has five distributors -- Savex Computers, Jupiter Infosys, Salora International, Vidur & Co and Champion Computers, which will sell the new product as well.
