With a view to extensively tap the technical and scientific market in B-class cities, Silicon Graphics Inc (SGI) has expressed its intentions of signing up 30 tier-2 systems integrators by March 2005. In this direction, the company has already appointed 10 partners and together with its national distributor Redington will try and identify another 20 over next three months. These SIs will be required to be extremely vertical-centric with a strong focus on R&D establishments and manufacturing outfits, with capabilities to offer the entire range of SGI's solutions.
“Currently the business opportunities in top five cities is more or less addressed by our tier-1 partners like Tata Elxsi, CMC, PCS and Apara. However, to tap the potential in B-class of cities, we would leverage on this base of 30 partners,” informed Prasad Medury, MD, SGI India. According to him, the company is targeting at a minimum business of Rs 30 crore through these SI partners in the period July '05-June '06.
Apart from providing a range of training and certification program for this new set of partners, Prasad says that they would also be offered the service opportunity. “Partners can look forward to making money through first-line of service activities as well, onus of which would lie with them,” added he.
