Patna: In an aggressive move to increase its presence in the state of
Bihar and revive the culture of mentoring the IT industry, The Indus
Entrepreneurs (TiE), a non-profit organization (NPO), has elected PK Sinha of
Patna-based Astric Computers as President of Patna Chapter for 2008. Sinha is
also Treasurer of Bihar IT Association (BITA).
"It is a privilege for me to be elected in this honorary position. I will
strive to keep up to the expectations of TiE Patna Chapter," said an exalted
Sinha soon after the elections.
A NPO, founded by the Indus Entrepreneurs in the Silicon Valley way back in
1992 has always been focussing on mentoring the new entrants in the corporate
field specializing in training programmes.
With 1,200 chartered members across the globe, TiE has always focussed on
encouraging business development activities and fostering advanced training to
freshers in the field of IT.
Commenting on the state of development in Bihar and the goals he has set for
himself as the new President of TiE, Sinha elaborated, "As a result of the lag
in industries in Bihar, especially after the formation of Jharkhand, where over
80 percent of Bihar's industry migrated, TiE was a bit dormant in the state.
Although the Patna Chapter was started way back in 2000, by 2004 it was
inactive. It was an association of the elite in Bihar's industrial circle. My
objective is to revive it by bringing in new members, especially the youth."
During 2002-04, TiE witnessed a steady decline in Bihar with the Patna
Chapter facing a notice of closure. On the other hand Bengaluru and Ahmedabad
Chapters saw a steady rise.
The primary task of TiE Patna Chapter is to increase its presence in the
industry and bring in more participation of youth in the community. Looking
forward to enhancing the quality of education and training in Patna, an optimist
Sinha commented, "The youth in corporate have started to take interest in TiE
mainly because it is opening up business opportunities and networking options
for them. It is our duty to keep the pulse going. As the future depends on the
youth, it is our responsibility to provide them with a common platform where
resources can be shared and utilised properly."
With the IT and hospitality sector in the state receiving patronage from the
state government, even state officials have started enrolling for TiE
membership. Though at a nascent stage in terms of chartered memberships in the
Patlna chapter, TiE has been successful in making a hefty comeback. With more
consolidation taking place in the IT retail and services sector across Bihar, it
is expected that TiE will soon have its much awaited breakthrough with the Patna
Chapter.
