SMC Networks, provider of networking solutions for the SMB/e and the home,
today announced the availability of its latest TigerStack family of high
performance switches- The TigerStackII 1000 Stackable 10/100/1000 48-Port
Managed Switch (SMC8848M) and 24-Port Stackable Managed Switch (SMC8824M), both
with optional 10G uplink.
It provides the larger bandwidth, improved port density, flexibility with
IPv6 advanced management features to maximize network performance as workgroup
aggregators in enterprise network environments for now and into the future.
SMC switches supports IPv4 and IPv6, the SMC8824M and SMC8848M are
future-proofed, providing for the possibility of flexible management and growth.
Enterprise-level, fully-featured 10/100/1000BASE-T 1RU-high stackable managed
switches, the SMC8824M and SMC8848M, with 24 and 48 total ports respectively,
include the full range of L2/4 features. Four of the ports on each switch are
combo ports that accept optional SX and LX SFP transceivers for fiber
connectivity; and two 10Gigabit XFP module slots provide high-bandwidth
connectivity to the core. Stackable to 8-high, these switches can expand to
provide up to 384 ports of high-bandwidth connectivity per stack.
Designed to handle high-bandwidth applications at speeds reaching up to
176Gbps with a non-blocking switching architecture, the SMC8824M and SMC8848M
provide cost-effective, Gigabit Ethernet switching for demanding networks that
require robust management capabilities.
Ideal for Enterprise workgroup applications, the SMC8824M and SMC8848M
support Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs) based on frame tags, ports or
protocol; automatic GARP VLAN Registration Protocol Local Area Network (GVRP
LAN) registration; and Multiple Spanning Tree. The comprehensive security
features include RADIUS, IEEE802.1x, Secure Shell (SSH), Secure Sockets Layer (SSL),
Terminal Access Controller Access Control System plus (TACACS+), and Access
Control List (ACL).
Jimmy Goh, VP of marketing, SMC Networks Asia Pacific , said, "The new
SMC8824M and SMC8848M switches make the Enterprise network run with speed,
efficiency and accuracy today, while maintaining their value and utility into
the future."
