In its bid to educate end-customers about the various storage products and
related queries, and with plans to expand the educational initiative by training
professionals and roping in select educational institutes and universities in
India as its education partners, the Networking Industry Association (SNIA)
India has resolved to undertake training programs, seminars and workshops on a
massive scale.
The association has tied-up with six educational institutions in India apart
from the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore where they have
set-up their storage lab and run various certification courses. SNIA India has
also laid down certain criteria for the institutes and universities to qualify
as franchisee partners.
Currently, apart from the various storage vendors like EMC, Western Digital,
IBM, HP and Sun Microsystems, the association has also roped in few channel
partners that include Fortune Computers, Apara, SP Software, Ontrack, Modi
Peripherals.
The association would ensure that the end-users are not bogged down by a
single vendor and that they are enabled enquiries about the various storage
devices, products and companies, and accordingly make a choice of the product
they wish to buy. Mobilizing end-user community through tutorials, workshops and
seminars is high on SNIA-India's agenda. Incidentally, within three years of its
inception, SNIA India has already trained about 23 qualified trainers under its
'Train the Trainer' program.
