Bangalore-based sub-disty Sogo Computers is all set to go on an expansion spree for its retail outlets. The company which
few months ago launched its Sogo brand of PCs already has put in place four outlets in Bangalore and
another four in upcountry cities of Karnataka. It now plans to add another 12 such showrooms in other cities by November. So far Sogo has
been selling an average of 800 PC units per month through its existing outlets. "With
addition of these 12 outlets, we should be able to do about 2,000 units every month," says G Jayamuni Rao, CEO, Sogo Computers.
While all the showrooms would have a special focus on Sogo PCs, they would also display other PC brands as well as
peripherals and accessories. While admitting that margins on PCs are going down, Jayamuni believes that the
company would be able to ensure profitability through sale of peripherals, etc. "Each of showrooms would have a staff of seven to eight and
we are going to ensure that customers see Sogo PCs as their preferred choice over
other MNC brands," adds he.
The company posted a growth of nearly 20% last fiscal and its revenue touched Rs 95 crore. It has also doubled its employee base to 115. "We now
want to focus more on end-user business instead of reseller business," elaborates
Jayamuni.
