SolidWorks to expand in India

Bangalore: SolidWorks Corporation has announced a ramp up of its headcount
and expansion of the company's value-added reseller (VAR) network in India. At a
media briefing held in Bangalore, the company also announced the appointment of
Manoj Mehta as the India county manager. This appointment is also part of its
expansion plans in India. Mehta, a 19-year veteran in sales and channel
management, would be responsible to expand and develop the company's VAR network
in India and help reach out more effectively to the customers.

"We are increasing the headcount from 60 to 90 employees by this
year-end, and also setting up a new office in Mumbai," said Ved Narayan, VP
- Asia Pacific, SolidWorks.

The company plans to expand its presence from 12 to 20 cities including
Chandigarh, Jamshedpur, Goa, Cochin, Nagpur, Indore and increase the number of
channel partners from 18 to 30. "Our customers are at the core of our
business and our VAR expansion plan is centered around our customers as
well," Narayan added.

SolidWorks had also recently appointed P M Ravikumar as the national
education manager for dedicated focus on the education sector.

SolidWorks plans to expand its presence in educational institutions across India
including engineering colleges, polytechnics and technical institutes to help
meet the needs of small and medium enterprises in India.
