HP has appointed Som Mittal as Senior VP of HP Services for Asia Pacific and
Japan (APJ). Mittal will lead the HP Services business in the Asia Pacific
region, with effect from October 2, 2006.
Based in Bangalore, he will continue the focus to drive profitable growth
exceeding the market, and operational excellence for technology services,
consulting, integration and managed services and will optimize sub regional
business portfolios and country organizational structures and practices.
He takes over this position from Siaou-Sze Lien, who retires from HP as
Senior VP-HP Services(APC-Japan) on September 30, 2006, HP said in a
statement.
Tom Lannotti, Senior VP and MD, Asia Pacific and Japan, said, “In addition
to his tremendous industry expertise, Som will bring with him a strong
understanding of customers' requirements from a strategic enterprise services
provider such as HP. We are confident that Som's leadership will build on our
strong momentum in this high-growth business in Asia Pacific.”
Mittal has over 31 years of experience, of which over 25 yeas have been in
senior management positions. He has over 17 years of experience in the
technology business. Since 2004, Mittal was Worldwide Head for Application
Services Operations and MD of HP GlobalSoft Ltd, based out of Bangalore in
India.
Earlier he worked with Digital Equipment India Ltd and Compaq India. In
addition, he has played a leading role in shaping the IT industry in India
through playing a leadership role in key Industry forums. He has served as
Chairman, Nasscom. Commenting on his appointment Mittal, said, “This
appointment offers me the opportunity to leverage my experience-within the
organization, as well as in the strategic services business-to drive the next
wave of growth for HP Services in Asia Pacific.”
