Sony appoints JMD as distributor for storage media

The Recording Media and Energy Group of Sony India has appointed Delhi-based
JMD Infotech as the distributor of its storage products in Delhi and NCR. With
this tie-up, Sony aims to take the media products into the retail segment,
including e-zone.

“We are the distributor of Sony storage products in Delhi and would be
supplying to other channel partners and retail owners here. This is the first
time that we are doing business with Sony and we wish to have long-term relation
with them,” said Naresh Kohli, CEO, JMD Infotech.

While foraying into retail segment, Sony India is hoping to increase the
shipment of storage products from the current figure of two million per month to
four million per month.

“We are primarily targeting the SOHO and corporate customers. We plan to
expand the market of storage products in phases, and our approach is to set-up a
distribution model. After Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore are our next
destinations,” said Hiroyuli Ikemura, Senior Manager-Recording Media and Energy
Group, Sony India.
