StorageTek has announced the availability of five additional disk systems, its latest in online storage solutions for entry-level, mid-tier/work group and large enterprises. The expanded availability of these D-series disk systems is driven by StorageTek's information life-cycle management (ILM) strategy, which balances the cost of storing and managing information with its changing value over time.
The D173 disk system is designed for entry-level storage environments. This full-fiber channel one gigabit per second disk subsystem supports modular expansion to more than six terabytes of information.
The D178 disk system is designed for enterprise open systems online storage environments. The two gigabit fiber channel D178 disk subsystem scales to support more than 32 terabytes of data.
The D220 disk system with its two-gigabit fiber channel interface, delivers speeds up to 400 megabytes per second to meet open systems department and work group workloads. This sub-system scales to more than six terabytes of storage, so it can grow with enterprise storage needs.
The D240 disk system, with its full two gigabit per second fiber channel connectivity, provides performance of up to 400 megabytes per second. This mid-range disk subsystem scales to more than 16 terabytes.
The D280 disk system with its two gigabit fiber channel interface, delivers performance of up to 772 megabytes per second. It is designed exclusively for open systems enterprise environments, scales to more than 32 terabytes of storage, providing the flexibility to grow with business requirements.
