Sun Microsystems has introduced iForce program for its
reseller network across the country. According to the company, this program is
designed with a concept to build a true eco-system for Sun’s authorized
channel network. Says Alok Sharma, GM - Channels, Sun Microsystems India,
"This program enables our channel partners to work together with our
engineers to offer a complete suite of solutions to customers." According
to him, the program also bundles periodic training programs which is organized
in all major metros and aggressive promotional programs for partners.
Meanwhile, Sun Microsystems has introduced the Sun Fire 15K
server, its new flagship high-end system in the market. According to the
company, this new server is built on technologies that radically alter the
performance level, reliability, scalability and availability of high-end servers
while significantly helping to reduce total cost of ownership.
With 106 processors, two to four times the memory of
competitive products with 576 Gigabytes, and 18 I/O hubs for networking and
storage connectivity, it is the world’s largest single cabinet UNIX server
system.
Sun Microsystems is also focused at consolidating its entire
range of workgroup servers. According to Alok, about 22 percent of Sun’s
revenues comes from the workgroup server business. The company plans to target
the financial institutions, manufacturing segment, SME, IT enabled service
market, telecom and service providers to accelerate its workgroup server revenue
flow.
