In a volatile memory market where prices change daily, Supercom Memories has
taken a bold step by offering a week’s price protection to its 200 regional
distributors.
"In recent times, memory prices have been going down and then up. If the
prices drop beyond a certain point, the channel stands to lose a lot of money.
We will provide protection to our authorized partners for a week’s time,"
says Indrajit Sabharwal of Supercom Mem-ories, the national distributor for
Simmtronics. Supercom will also offer ex-stock availability for all Simmtronics
products. This means products will be delivered within 24 hours throughout the
country.

Simmtronics has also started manufacturing DRAM chips for its memory modules.
This has brought the prices of its modules at par with the gray market prices of
other competitive brands. Says Indrajit, "We are in a strong position to
become the preferred choice of customers, because our prices are competitive. In
addition to this, unlike gray channel products, we give after-sales service,
prompt delivery and lifetime warranty."
Supercom’s Mumbai distributor, Mahesh Surkha of Satguru Traders, seconds
this reasoning, "When branded products with proper warranty backing are
available at the same price as gray market products, why would any customer go
for the latter?" Supercom has already sold over 15,000 modules since
Simm-tronics started manufacturing memory chips for its modules.
