One of the largest distributors of the East, Supertron continued with its old
set of principal vendor in the year 2003-04 to achieve agency revenue of Rs 120
crore against agency revenue of Rs 102 crore achieved in the previous years.
This growth of 18% is much lower than the 40% growth its had achieved in the
previous year, however, the company claims to have kept its profitability
steady. About 5% of its total revenue contribution came from its own Vintron
brand of PCs. This has been excluded for the Silver Club ranking.
Supertron had taken over the once-popular Vintron brand and brought into its
fold Vintron's PC manufacturing line, significant marketing personnel as well
as the ownership of the 'Vintron' brand.
During the year, hard disk drives and motherboards were the two products
segments that drove Supertron's growth. Seagate and Mercury were the two big
brands that brought in major chunk of its business.
Some of the highlights worth a mention during the year were the creation of a
PC dealers network in the Eastern part of India. It also added Delhi, Lucknow,
Bhopal, Nagpur and Pune as its new branches. An ERP solution with broadband
connectivity to all its branches was implemented to maintain and manage
logistics.
For the year 2004-05, Supertron is aiming to become a national distributor
with extensive geographical reach. At the same time it is also positioning
Supertron as a company promoting Vintron brand PCs. Currently, the Vintron PC is
being sold across India through its 15 branches. Additionally it will be
promoting its own Supercomp brand of USB products.
During the year, Supertron received the best distributor award from Skoch
Summit. Some of the leading companies it represents are Pinacle's Dazzle,
Acer, Canon, Intel, Kobian, LG, Microsoft and Seagate.
Supertron made its presence felt in the retail market by opening its first
retail outlet in Kolkata and adding two more in the current fiscal. These
showrooms are multi-branded and products on display would be from vendors like
HCL, Acer, HP and Supertron's own brand, Supercomp. It would also double up as
a LG MyShopee outlet.
