Kolkata-based Supertron Electronics has recently launched a range of
Supercomp digital video recorder solutions. This marks its foray into the
storage and surveillance segment, which is primarily addressed by multinational
brands. As a major thrust towards this business unit, Supertron has formed an
Enterprise Application Vertical (EAV) division, headed by Sudipto Gupta.
"We believe the storage and surveillance segment has got unlimited
potential," Gupta said.
Coming back to the new products, the company claimed that these comply to the
quality standards present with MNC brands, though Supertron is offering it as a
much lower cost. It wants to distinguish itself from low-value Chinese products
available in the market that offer no warranty. The Supercomp range of DVR card
will provide immediate RMA and service support through Supertron's service
centers across India.
"Our products are positioned for all kinds of users - petrol pumps, SOHO,
SMB, banking and finance, warehouses, retail store chains - in short any place
where cash is transacted or kept. Virtually anyone who feels that a closer watch
should be kept on their premises or feel that there is something unacceptable
going on can opt for our products," said Gupta.
Supertron is trying to expand the existing CCTV video surveillance market by
organizing the largely unorganized distribution network of surveillance
solutions. "Our plan is to enter with an organized distribution muscle into
a largely unorganized industry is an effort to bring transparency in pricing,
offer assured service, reduced product risk and ensure overall price
reduction," explained Gupta.
Though based in Kolkata, Supertron has started marketing the new product
range primarily in south India. "Since this region is technically superior,
the demand for these products is endless. We have already roped in around
hundred partners across south India to market our products. We had been doing
this exercise of network building for the last one month and we are planning to
engage over 600 partners all across to distribute this range," informed
Gupta.
The company is also trying to take these products national and is creating a
network of registered CCTV solution providers through whom Supercomp products
will be made available to the end-customer. It hopes that its initiatives will
help it acquire 20 percent market share of the total DVR market in India.
