Mumbai based Trade Association of Information Technology (TAIT) emerged at a time when the booming computer hardware industry was haunted by the ghost of high duties and taxes. The hardware and assembling industry was largely unorganized and battling with challenges like high Excise and Custom duties, grey market, lack of unity among partners and many more. TAIT was formed with the objective to solve the issue of high excise and custom duties and organize the channel partners. Today, TAIT is at the forefront in fighting for justice of the trader community.

TAIT at a glance

Founded in March 1996, TAIT has grown to represent over 300 IT companies comprising of IT distributors, resellers, System integrators, software and networking companies. The association runs by an elected board of directors and has a fully equipped office with an executive secretary running the daily affairs of the association. It organizes its flagship event “COM IT Expo” which is one of the prestigious Technology events in the country.

TAIT is the first IT association of India to sign MoU with international association-TAITRA – Taiwan, representing body to promote business trade of the aspiring IT entrepreneurs. Every year TAITRA invites TAIT members for business meets. TAIT provides its members all the logistics support to attend business conferences in Taiwan.

Role in channel development

TAIT has played crucial role in educating its members about the excise units. The association worked with sales tax department for classification of all the IT goods. It organized seminars with police department, VAT department and Maharashtra government on MAIT policies.

TAIT also worked with Microsoft to educate the partners on piracy which was huge success in lowering the raids. It helped members in payment clearances and encouraged healthy relations between the channel and vendors. TAIT is committed to evolve a healthy eco-system in the hardware industry. It organizes knowledge Series Event focusing on Seminars and workshop on technology awareness and professional and personal skills development of the member community.

TAIT represents in various interaction with the Government Departments at State and Central level on policy and industry issues. It also involved in closed interaction with the representative associations like MAIT, NASSCOM, IMC on issues and challenges faced by the industry. TAIT also focuses on establishing cohesive relationship with the other peer IT associations to work towards the benefits of the trade.

CSR Activities

Besides channel nourishment, TAIT actively involved in various CSR activities. It overwhelmingly contributed during the natural calamities of Gujarat Earthquake and Mumbai Flood. TAIT also contributes towards Mumbai Police fund.

TAIT aims to become the association where members get meaningful and quantifiable benefits. It aims to become a vital link encompassing the Vendor-Distributor-Sub Distributor-Reseller-System Integrator and the end user. TAIT aspires to evolve a healthy eco-system where members do business with ethical practices.
