Taiwan-based QNAP Systems is making its presence in India by appointing SES Technologies to sell ISO-9001 certified
Internet appliances (IA). QNAP's product lines actually cover networking storage, digital surveillance and
message communication. However, SES will focus mainly on NAS and some network DVR systems.
While the distribution arrangement with SES is not an exclusive one, QNAP believes that SES' devotion to the business and
their extensive channel network will help it do well in India.
According to Roy Chuang, QNAP's International Sales Director, India is a virgin market for QNAP. "We've been selling
many products to Europe and Japan for the last two years. However, certain models are best suited for
the Indian market if promoted with effective marketing," he states.
A new company, QNAP was spun off from the IA department of IEI, which selling IAs for over three years. In India, QNAP will be competing with
products from Iomega and Dell in the networking storage space.
