Tamil Nadu IT policy 2002 announced

The highlight of Connect 2002 was the release of the new IT Policy of Tamil

Nadu by the CM, J Jayalalitha.

The new IT policy of 2002 seeks to establish Tamil Nadu as the destination of

choice for IT investments, to upgrade the quality of life of its citizens

through e-governance, to empower people in the rural areas so as to bridge the

digital divide, to develop R & D initiatives and finally to promote the use

of Tamil in IT.

"The new IT Policy will be a beacon of light to guide the State and

propel it to the number one position in IT exports," says Jayalalitha.

The new policy, which will soon be uploaded at Govern-ment’s official web

site– www.tn.gov.in, has invited participation from the public for debate and

discussion on the policy.
