After a slow growth in 2002-03, Targus Technologies saw its revenues more
than double up last fiscal. The company grew by 120% and clocked revenues of Rs
42 crore in 2003-04, as compared to Rs 20 crore in 2002-03. Storage clocked Rs 8
crore to this figure. Surprisingly, Targus's service revenues remained
stagnant at Rs 2 crore in 2003-04, which shows that it has yet to capitalize
this burgeoning market.
Targus managed to leapfrog into the Silver Club, for the first time, because
of its focus on government agencies like the Ministry of Home, Ministry of Road
and Transport and Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Another contributor to Targus's growth in 2003-03 was its involvement with
enterprise solutions in the high-end segment. It was appointed as a Sify Gold
partner and was also awarded the best overall partner in North by HP India. last
fiscal.
Targus executed several major projects, which accelerated its performance.
Bharti and HFCL were among the biggest clients that it bagged apart from Spice
Telecom, TCIL, C-Dot, Lifetree and BT Global. For Bharti alone, it did projects
worth Rs 12 crore last fiscal, including the telecom major's Colored Ring Back
Tone project. This called for the supply of 39 servers, loaded with Linux
Enterprise and Professional platform.
