With the recent re-launch of HP's managed print services (MPS) earlier known as Partner Managed Print Services (PMPS) to target SMB and enterprise customers. HP has selected Delhi based Team Computers in the first phase of expansion in Delhi and Mumbai cities. Some of other partners who have signed up for the new MPS program are Comnet in Mumbai and Orbit in Delhi.

Speaking to The DQWeek, Nitin Hiranandani, director, printing, HP, PPS India, said, "This MPS program is in the first phase, so this program has been launched in India in phased like manner. So the phase one has been launched in May this year and we have gone with very-very selective partnerships as of now, and with base number, we have started with nine partnerships across Delhi and Mumbai. Moreover as part of the road map is concerned for the partners, we call it as agent model where HP is doing the entire back-end supporting, starting from lead generation until the closer and maintains the contract. As we move forward, we intend to build infrastructure and the knowledge-base for our partners."

As such, the company has not set any eligibility criteria for the partners. It is in fact, the partners which we chosen are existing HP partners who have been working earlier and have a strong knowledge in terms of solution and understand the print environment.

Commenting on Team partnership with HP for MPS, Mahesh Tomar of Team Computers said, " We have been doing MPS for three years, so we already aware about what are the benefits, etc. We would have close to 400-500 customers across the country and out of which 8-10% are already on some kind of MPS arena. In the first go we will have to sacrifice the revenue which we book in the first go. Since this program is also evolving and we have generally mid-term and long-term orientation. So for me, I am not actually looking at immediate kind of a judgment on this. I know for sure that market is opening up and it is right kind of solution for customer future needs and current needs. So we are in the game and I feel that HP will be taking care of the margin. In terms of what we are seeing in last 15 or 20 days only we would have spotted the opportunities or we would have converted the opportunity of more than I think 4-5 lakh pages per month for MPS that will give an idea as to what the possibility could be for us in future."
