Tech Pac launches AMD-powered HCL PC

Tech Pacific India has recently tied up with HCL Infosystems to exclusively distribute the AMD Athlon powered Ezeebee
brand of personal computers. This is to fulfill the huge demand created by the value segment of the PC market.
With the exit of the Pentium III, the void created in the value segmentpresented an opportunity that Tech Pac tries to plug with this initiative.
The HCL Ezeebee will only be available through Tech Pacific and even existing HCL resellers will have to buy from Tech
Pac. Says Rajeev Thapar, Marketing Manager, HCL Infosystems, "Tech Pac has played an extremely
important role in assessing the market and conceptualizing it." The product, in his words, is from Tech Pac, through Tech Pac and for the Tech
Pac channel.

The HCL Ezeebee 6701 is powered with an AMD Athlon XP 1900+ processor and features 128 MB DDR RAM, and an
integrated S3 Pro Savage shared memory AGP. It also comes with two USB 2.0 ports in the front of the black cabinet.
While the expected end user price is Rs 25,990, Tech Pac will transfer the same to the resellers at Rs 24,490.

To ensure a certain amount of reseller excitement, the company has also launched the 'HCL ka Magic' scheme. The purchase
of every Ezeebee 6701 earns the reseller ten points. And depending on the city of operation, the
reseller will be awarded different values for each point earned. This can later either be encashed or be redeemed as gifts.

HCL officials were confident that the new system would get them substantial volumes, they were not sure about the numbers.
Says Thapar, "It is too early to put a fix on the unit numbers."
