Chennai-based Texonic Instruments, provider of networking and mobile solutions, is getting into the highly competitive consumables market by tying up with T-Series as its national distributor for blank CD media. T-Series, an audio cassette manufacturer, is also a new entrant in this business and has set-up its manufacturing unit in
Noida.
For Texonic donning the role of a national distributor will be a significant move as it widens its product offering. Earlier, it had tied-up with Lite-On as a regional distributor in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, for its complete range of optical drives. According to Texonic Instruments Director Nitesh Bhandari, "Texonic will play a larger role in the market as we have offices in all metros. We also have the capacity to take volumes and we will keep expanding our product line".
As national distributor for T-Series, the company has decided that it will be the exclusive distributor in Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. It will appoint regional distributors in other markets. "The consumables distribution business involves lot of campaigning and marketing strategies. But we are determined to take on our competitors with aggressive pricing, supply, delivery and support. T-Series, being a national brand, will be able to compete well, while others have to source from overseas markets," Nitesh explains.
However, Texonic has not set any sales targets initially, as it is the new market for them. "We want to understand the market well before coming up with some numbers. But, we will set up realistic targets and work towards achieving it," informs Nitesh.
Meanwhile, the company is promoting Wi-Fi in a big way in its networking business. Texonic is a key partner for D-Link in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
