The dip in Caltron revenues was because
of stiff competition from Beetel and changed marketing strategies of
vendors like LG and Samsung. The Kodak and HCL businesses too shrunk
leading to the overall decline. However, it expanded its product
portfolio and reach with regional distributorship for Kaspersky
anti-virus in Chhattisgarh, East and North India; Mercury in Raipur;
Toshiba in Bihar and Jharkhand; and Acer across Bengal. Kaspersky
appointed Caltron as its RD for Delhi and NCR whereby Caltron became
platinum partner for the entire range of Kapersky products to be
distributed through its 565 resellers in Delhi and NCR. Caltron also
went aggressive with Acer in the eastern region after being appointed
its RD for West Bengal-it was billing to about 235 channel partners
for Acer brand in Bengal and achieved close to 200% growth for Acer
business in the east. Kobian, incidentally staged a comeback in the
eastern upcountry markets with its Mercury brand of products, by
appointing Caltron as the RD for East with special emphasis in the
Bhubaneshwar and Ranchi markets. HP printers, however, contributed
the maximum from Bihar and North East to Caltron's revenue.
