History/ Journey of AIT Bengaluru as an IT Association.

Association for Information Technology – Bengaluru, is a 20+-year-old forum that represents over 450+ Life member Companies engaged in the businesses of IT Hardware – Distribution and Sub Distribution, IT Retail, IT Systems Integrators, IT Networking and Infrastructure Providers and Software Resellers. The Association’s core strength is its MEMBERS from the above diverse portfolios.

Founded in 1996, AIT today is one of the most successful trade bodies in the country. We at AIT conduct workshops, Seminars, IT Trade expositions, promote Social & Cultural programs for its members apart from liaising with Government Departments on taxation and Allied issues.

Association activates in the last 6 months.

The New Committee which took over in 2019 November started with a Bang by hosting a 400 plus Members and their respective families to a Mega Family Event In March 2020 which was a Day outing at one of the best and top resorts in Bangalore, where members participated in Product launches by sponsors, cultural events and were followed by Women’s Day Awards ceremony to outstanding members. It was the biggest event in the history of AIT.

With the pandemic looming at large in the country in the last week of March, the whole nation faced unprecedented times and we saw many lockdowns, but true to its Commitment the Current AIT committee conducted several webinars and workshops online to keep its members engrossed in activities within the fraternity, to name a few webinars were conducted by the following companies.

2. Corsair Elgato – Latest Offerings
3. Netgear – WFH Solutions and Switching
4. Ubiquiti – WFH Solutions
5. Microsoft – Training on TEAM / Legal Sofware Solutions
6. Government E-marketplace - GeM – Enablement of Members on the Portal.

The Current committee has also planned many other events and Fellowships in the coming months once the pandemic slows down.

How is the market performing in the last 6 months?

This Pandemic has so far had a positive effect on the Members.  WFH gave them a sudden rush from Customers grabbing most of the Laptop stocks. The Stocking Partners could totally clear their current as well as ageing Inventory of Laptops, UPS and Accessories like Headsets and Monitors. Currently, from the Corporates, there is slowness in the market which will continue for a few Months But the silver lining is the Online Education Policy has triggered Entry Level Laptops demand. The OEM’s are doing their best to fulfil the Members Orders. Workforce Management (WFM) in most of the companies during pandemic has dried out other product sales like Desktops, Workstations and Accessories.

IT&ITES, Healthcare, education, Workforce Management and retail are the main primary business verticals in AIT Bengaluru.

What are the different challenges/ issues with the vendors or customers?

Challenges with the Vendors

1) Availability of Stocks and Stock allotment to B and M Stores is the challenge.

2) Price (Online and offline)

3) Shortage of Entry-Level Products

Challenges with customers

1) Corporates are asking for more credit periods.

2) Delivery timelines have increased by 2weeks from the OEM side.

3) WFM in most of the Companies, which has dried out the other Product sales.

4) Providing Tech support onsite is an issue due to pandemic and Lockdown.
